June 3rd is a particularly special date for the Brazilian National Team. It was on this day in 1970 that the Seleção began its victorious journey toward a third World Cup title, defeating Czechoslovakia 4-1 after coming from behind. Rivellino, Pelé, and Jairzinho (twice) found the back of the net.
The jersey worn by Brazil at the 1970 FIFA World Cup became one of the most iconic kits in football history. Manufactured by Athleta, it featured the traditional canary yellow with green details, a simple collar, and a smaller crest on the chest. Its clean design was immortalized by legends such as Pelé, Jairzinho, Tostão, Gérson, and Rivellino.
The kit was completed with blue shorts and white socks, a combination that became synonymous with Brazil’s third World Cup triumph in Mexico and is often regarded as one of the most beautiful football shirts ever produced.

On the same date, 32 years later, Brazil kicked off its campaign toward a fifth World Cup title by defeating Turkey, an opponent that would challenge them again in the semifinals. Ronaldo and Rivaldo scored in a 2-1 victory.
Worn during Brazil’s fifth World Cup-winning campaign, the 2002 national team jersey was produced by Nike and stood out for its bold design, featuring green side panels and sleeve accents, reflecting a popular design trend of the early 2000s.
Developed with technologies aimed at improving player comfort in hot and humid conditions, the shirt became associated with the outstanding performances of Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho during the victorious tournament held in Japan and South Korea.

Brazil played two other matches on June 3 throughout its history. In 1934, the team was defeated 8-4 by Yugoslavia in a friendly match, while in 2014 Neymar inspired a 4-0 victory over Panama. These were all the occasions on which the most successful national team in football history took the field on June 3rd.
