Adidas to Release Remakes of Manchester United’s 1986 Kits

It may look like A Hint of Nostalgia, but it isn’t. According to information published today (Tuesday, June 16) by Footy Headlines, Adidas is set to release remake versions of Manchester United’s 1986 shirts, including an identical recreation of the home kit and a third jersey.

The project, however, is expected to become reality only at the beginning of 2027, midway through the European season. The home shirt will be a faithful replica of the kit worn during the early years of the Ferguson era, featuring the club’s traditional red color, while the third kit will be entirely black.

The revamped 1986 shirt will feature a red base with a subtle diagonal shadow pattern, a classic white V-neck collar with red and black details, and Adidas’ original branding, including the Trefoil logo and SHARP sponsorship, both present on the original kit.

This is not the first time the German manufacturer has taken a trip down memory lane with United. Since 2022, Adidas has released several alternative kits inspired by the club’s historic designs, bringing back memories of its golden years. The brand has maintained this tradition annually over the past five years, and 2027 will be no exception.
