Adidas is planning to launch a new jersey for Brazilian club Flamengo in early 2027, continuing its strategy of reviving iconic classic designs. At least that is what Footy Headlines claims in an exclusive report.
The redesigned kit for 2027 will bring back the iconic Flamengo away shirt design from the 1980s and 1990s, specifically the one worn in 1981, when the Rubro-Negro “taught the English a football lesson” and became world champions after lifting the Copa Libertadores trophy for the first time.
Adidas manufactured Flamengo’s kits during its golden era, from 1981 to 1991, and the 2027 recreation is expected to be an almost identical replica, with only minor differences in materials or fit. The Adidas-produced version is expected to reach the market in early 2027.

The first time Adidas produced Flamengo’s kit was in 1976, for just one season. In 1981, the German supplier returned to Gávea and remained for ten years. After Umbro, Nike, and Olympikus took over, Adidas returned in 2013 and has remained ever since.
